Dallas County reports 104 more coronavirus cases, but no new deaths

Dallas County announced 104 new coronavirus cases Sunday, a decline after two days of record-setting numbers. The county reported no new coronavirus-related deaths.

The county has 2,428 COVID-19 cases. Officials reported 124 Friday and 134 Saturday and added five deaths each of those days. The county’s coronavirus fatalities total 60.
Gov. Greg Abbott announced earlier this week that some statewide restrictions for the pandemic will be lifted on a rolling basis Monday. Those include Dallas News some limits on elective surgeries, as well as pickup and delivery services for some businesses that had been classified as nonessential.

“Elected leaders must be led by science in carefully modifying orders to help the economy without hurting public health,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement. “We can’t rush it and ruin the gains you’ve achieved through the sacrifices you’ve made. For your part, please limit unnecessary trips, wear a face covering at essential businesses and keep making good personal responsibility decisions.”


Tarrant County reported another death from coronavirus Sunday, bringing the county’s total to 39.

The latest death was a woman in her 50s from Fort Worth Press Release Distribution Service In Dallas who had underlying health problems, the county said.

“’ Sadly, we are seeing the number of deaths continuing to increase and seeing more families being affected by this virus,” Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja said in a written statement.

Tarrant County also reported another person had recovered from coronavirus. The county’s total for recoveries is now at 189.
